DRINK Fest: Vodka Buck in a Genuine Copper Mug

Drinking in a copper container is believed to have health benefits besides keeping drinks cold longer in a rugged vintage-looking container. I enjoy the mood of drinking in one because of the following characteristics:

No nickel, tin, or steel. The mug is made of only pure solid copper. It has a lacquer finish that keeps it shiny, no need to polish which can compromise food safety, and which has the option to be sanded out to turn it into an antique finish in time. The copper and finish are of food-grade quality. The handle is welded, so no ugly rivets that can cause leaks or can come loose. The design leaves an interesting classic old Western masculine twist.
A real copper mug frosts up in seconds. These mugs get cold and stay cold longer than ordinary glass or ceramic mugs, probably 50% longer. Gives instant refreshment and lets me enjoy my drink longer, whether drinking water of mixed Vodka Buck.

The mug is well-made, looks stunning and functions well. I’ve used them for several rounds and it’s luster has not changed. It keeps my drinks chilled longer, is shatter-proof, odor-free and leaves no after-taste on my drinks. It’s a different drinking experience that can be shared with your fave man as it would make an excellent gift with its handcrafted box with a bronze vintage lock and coaster.

HEALTH Helps: Detoxification and Anti-Oxidizing Drink

Green matcha tea had been one of my favorite drinks since I was introduced to it. This green matcha tea by Organic Wise seem to be easier to dissolve, has a vivid green hue, and smoother earth notes than the brands I have tried in the past. This is culinary grade which means that it can be used as an ingredient in recipes besides taken alone in warm water.

WHAT IS MATCHA GREEN TEA: Matcha means finely ground powder of the green tea leaves. I love the flavour of green tea, I can say the antioxidant and other actions are more of a health bonus for me. I am privileged to be introduced to this organic grade that are grown under shade 3 weeks before harvest and whose stems and veins are removed before the pulverization procedure. Shaded growth means more theanine (an amino acid for mental focus) and chlorophyll, and taking out stems and veins mean softer and more soluble powdery substance that dissolves more quickly. Green tea also naturally contains vitamins, minerals and more types of amino acids, but this is superior because of its natural organic (without chemicals or synthetics) quality from the time it is cultivated to being a drink in my tea cup.

MY LIFESTYLE: I like trying out healthy beverages to augment my imbalanced diet and unhealthy lifestyle. I frequently turn on to fast-food and preserved drinks due to a busy work-home schedule. Add to my gut and liver workout is a weekly girls night out where alcohol is oftentimes company. For this, I fall back on nutritious all-natural alternatives from time to time for nutritional supplementation and deep-gut cleansing, one of them is matcha green tea.

WHY TEA?: Our Oriental brothers serve tea after each meal because they believe in its natural healing properties. They believe that it cleanses the gut after a fatty meal.

WHERE IS IT GROWN & HOW IS IT STORED: The tea leaves are grown in Aichi and Kagoshima in Japan, and are organically grown as attested by 3rd party certifications. The food-grade aluminum pouch and zip-lock seal freshness until it is opened. Refrigeration is required upon opening.

HOW I USE IT: 1 gram per serving is suggested, but I guess you can take in as much as you want depending on your taste, no harm in it since it’s all-natural. I like taking it in warmer water (not boiling hot) and the company provides more creative recipes in its website for me to try.

OTHER INGREDIENTS: The powder is pure green tea matcha powder, with absolutely no additives, coloring or preservatives.

OTHER USES: Can be used to make ice cream, mix with fruit shakes, etc.

RESULTS: When drinking this tea, I feel like I’m giving my body an herbal bath from within. I feel cleansed in the gut, and it reverberates through my body and out of the skin. I follow the instructions on the can to maximize the benefits. This is because if the water is too hot, it might destroy the nutrients and destroy the flavour. This tea also dissolves quickly and evenly, there’s hardly residues left at the bottom of your tea cup if prepared in the recommended measurement.

CONCLUSION: On a final note, I know that drinking green tea provides benefits and does no harm for my body in terms of protecting it towards the old age. I may not see it now, but I know it is doing something beneficial for me. It’s helping my body age gracefully in the inside. And so I end by sharing the age-old adage “Everything in moderation.” and “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.” No harm in protecting my body for the old age.

FOOD/DRINK Fest: Aerating Wine to Bring Out Its Full Character

Drinking a glass of red wine everyday is good for one’s health. It enhances the taste of main course meals in fine dining. It also amplifies the atmosphere of festivity during parties. Whether taken alone or with food, undoubtedly, it presents benefits for health and beverage appreciation alike.

This simple wine serving accessory (Wine Aerator by Ohuhu) adds pizazz & class to the taste and serving presentation of wine. It works on the basic concept of adding air to the liquid (or aerating) in order to bring out the fullness and heighten the flavour and tang of the alcoholic drink. In this manner, the added air increases the appreciation for the drink’s character from the selection of its ingredients, fermenting process and storage techniques.

The air is added at the point of serving while the wine is poured through the aerator, so the device has to be held above the wine galss while pouring. This aerator is unlike the type that is installed on the mouth of the bottle which aerates minimally. This has a higher capacity to mix in air into the wine resulting to a bolder fuller taste and more released aroma than the small attachable aerators.

The receiving receptacle is wide enough to accommodate the wine poured without overflowing and the pour spout is contoured to avoid drips because it collectively flows out through the 1-centimeter center hole. The transparent acrylic material allows you to see the wine pass through device while being poured, which adds charm and glamour to the presentation.

A base stand is provided to hold the aerator when not in use. And a black velvet pouch is provided for transportability. Cleaning is by running water through the aerator device and washing the outer portion with soap and a soft sponge.

This is an excellent gift for friends, it can be easily wrapped since it comes in an 6”x2”x2” box, nice to give away together with your fave vintage.

HOME Helps: Citrus Zester that does the work fast

I like putting orange rind onto almost anything… cookies, tea, sauce, etc. So this means I do a lot of grating and zesting. I used to have a square grater box which took longer because of the rolling-turning motion you have to do with the fruit. And it even produces uneven rinds that can make my goodies bitter.

This long grater/zester by LinchPinWorld is such a simple tweak to the kitchen tool but has taken a lot of the pain out of the process. This time, I don’t have to slide-roll-twist to get all the best parts, it’s the grater that I manipulate to reach all the peel surface areas I choose.

It’s made of stainless steel so it looks like I won’t have a need to buy another one in the near future. The blades are sharp and give even thin rinds. It comes with a cover for storing.

HOME Helps & FOOD Fest: 2 Stainless Steel Super-Sized Seasoning, Spice & Herb Grinders for Hot Kitchen & Table Use

T.amz.Grinders.MonentsKitchenware.15.11.16

Salt. Pepper, Herb & Seasoning Grinders (set of 2) by Moments Ktichenware

Putting pre-mixed freshly ground seasoning (salt, pepper, herbs or combinations thereof) is the secret to my recipes for pasta, barbecues and roasts. I buy them raw, coarse or naturally whole from flea markets, combine then grind them myself only at the moment it is needed. With salt, I leave them coarse, with pepper, I use a pepper mill, while with herbs, I shred and shrivel them with bare hands or cut them with kitchen shears because I don’t like to squish them with a stone grinder or mortar and pestle. Using semi-fine to fine produce simplifies things, but loses the pizzazz, as well as diminishes the taste and texture quality of final culinary masterpieces.

This is a time-tested family culinary secret that has been passed on for generations to bring out an excellent match between spices and herbs, and the main ingredient being cooked, baked or grilled. So, a grinder is a must in our kitchen. Unfortunately, buying spices fine loses its natural taste and coarseness for variety in food texture, a food quality that is often overlooked.

Having a dependable and presentable grinder-dispenser which is affordable is hard to find. I’m glad I found these professional stainless steel capped ceramic grinders with glass bodies that works neatly not only in the hot kitchen but looks gorgeous on the tabletop as well. Now, I can actually grind my spices and herbs at just the moment I need it without all the fuss. It also gives my guests the option to adjust my culinary experiments to suit their individual taste. And the transparent view of the bottles’ contents reveal the special seasoning mix within (for combination grinds).

The grinder housings are made of stainless steel alloy so it’s virtually rust-free for life. I fear no food contamination. It is the same for the ceramic grinding burrs that are machined most probably through electronic CNC techniques, so precision on the grinding clearances are measured to a tee. The result ranges from coarse to very fine granules. It works without being messy because the stainless steel caps seal the interior see-through glass container, and stays firm while in use.

The large size of approximately 3” (diameter) x 7” (height) makes large amounts easily available without constant refilling. As an additional tip, do not fill the container to the brim with your salt/pepper/herbs/combination to allow circulation. Shake the container after every two 360-degree turns in case granules get caught in the ceramic grinding gears.

HOME Helps & FOOD/DRINK Fest: A Wine Gadget to Make Sure You Enjoy Your Vintage at its Best

T.amz.WineThermometer.15.11.12

Wine Thermometer by Vino-Please.com

A wine’s best notes can only be appreciated at the right temperature at the point of drinking. Not to be cluttered by the temperature requirement per wine type, I keep a tab to have the drink between 7 to 17 degrees. I keep a chiller, but once wine is opened on the counter, table or bar, the temp starts to shoot up to meet room temp.

Drinking a glass of red wine everyday is good for one’s health. It enhances the taste of main course meals in fine dining. It also amplifies the atmosphere of festivity during parties. Whether taken alone or with food, undoubtedly, it presents benefits for health and beverage appreciation alike. It only deserves to be appreciated in the way it is recommended to be served— at the right temperature.

This simple tool/accessory assures that you enjoy your selected vintage to the max. This wine thermometer gives an accurate reading (same as my electric chiller) and is easy to attach to the wine bottle. Simply clip onto standard bottles. The design is simple, minimalist and elegant in black and silver with a subdued black digital readings. Once the reading is above 17 degrees, I cork and turn it back into the chiller. This keeps the beverage iceless yet chilled so one can enjoy it at its unadulterated state.

This is an excellent gift for friends, it can be easily wrapped since it comes in an 3”x3”x2” box. Dionysus, the Greek god of grape harvest and wine festivities, and Bacchus, his Roman counterpart, would be most happy to spread this cheer to further enjoy the fruits of their harvest. Kampay! Cheers!

DRINK Festival: Ooohlala— Cocktails Galore with my Shaker & Jigger

This cocktail shaker and jigger had kept my parties more interesting with added pizzazz to go beyond traditional beer, wine and bottled drinks. During regular get-together nights, the drinks just has to keep flowing! Girlfriends with their beaus love to drop by and what better way to get the party rolling but trying out our own cocktail and long drink concoctions, or experimenting on new ones.

This stainless steel set comes in 3 pieces with a 24-ounce body, strainer and cap. A 1-½ oz jigger is a bonus to make sure drink recipes are followed to a tee and come out the way it should be in taste, color and measure. For those experimenting and don’t have a fave drink recipe in memory, an e-Book shows various drinks to try.

For the shaker, the cap seals to the body to avoid spills and spurts while in use. This means it is also leak-proof while in the process of pouring contents into a drink glass, eliminating mess and wastage. The material is food-grade stainless steel making the drink pure and uncontaminated with metal or rust. The strainer allows pulp to pass through while keeping rinds, ice cubes or semi-crushed ice from flowing with the drink into actual drinking glasses.

The shaker and jigger have logos adding a touch of professional bartending class in my rolling bar, as opposed to those generic cheap-looking shakers and jiggers. The thick matte sheen makes it look chic and sassy as opposed to shiny metallic ones.

They are odor and taste non-contaminant, as well as dishwasher-safe.

HOME Helps & FOOD/DRINK Fest: A 4-in-1 (Chiller, Aerator, Pourer, Stopper) Tool that Bring Out the Best in the Vintage with a Classy Serving Presentation

These are the things I remember to appreciate the qualities of wine:
1— served chilled between 7 to 17 degrees Celsius
2— aerate just before you drink (used to be done through swirling before the advent of aerators)
3— pour languidly

Drinking a glass of red wine everyday is good for one’s health. It enhances the taste of main course meals in fine dining. It also amplifies the atmosphere of festivity during parties. Whether taken alone or with food, undoubtedly, it presents benefits for health and beverage appreciation alike.

This simple tool/accessory adds pizzazz and class to the taste and serving presentation of wine. It works on the basic concept of adding air to the liquid (or aerating) in order to bring out the fullness and heighten the flavour and tang of the alcoholic drink. In this manner, the aerator increases the appreciation for the drink’s character from the selection of its ingredients, fermenting process and storage techniques. WIth air incorporated into the wine, not only the taste but the aroma as well is enhanced to bring out a total wine appreciation experience.

The air is added at the point of serving while the wine is poured through the aerator, so the device has to be attached to the bottle’s opening. This aerator by Pourings is easy to install on the bottle, just insert with the end with the bigger cut downward, and slightly push until the rubber stopper on the mid portion seals with the lip of the bottle. Then it’s ready to use. The pour spout is contoured to avoid drips and messy bottles, while the inner nib assures that every drop is served, nothing wasted. The transparent acrylic material allows you to see the wine pass through device while being poured, adding charm and glamour to the presentation. The small opening prevents contamination, too, while the bottle is exposed.

What more, a chiller stick can be installed with the pourer. This is placed in the freezer prior to use and attached by twisting it clockwise into the aerator. The rod is made of food-grade stainless steel number 304, so it gives me the confidence of a service tool that will last rust-free through a lifetime. To uninstall, simply twist outward. This keeps the beverage iceless so one can enjoy it at its unadulterated state.

Cleaning is by running water through the aerator and chilling rod and washing the outer portion with soap and a soft sponge.

This is an excellent gift for friends, it can be easily wrapped since it comes in an 8”x4”x1” box. Dionysus, the Greek god of grape harvest and wine festivities, and Bacchus, his Roman counterpart, would be most happy to spread the cheer around. Kampay! Cheers!

FOOD Festival: Ooohlala— Instant Beer Parties with Mexican Mango Salsa

It’s Friday night once again, and the drinks just has to start flowing! Girlfriends with their beaus love to drop by and what better way to get the party rolling but with taco chips and dips with good ole beer.

This sweet tangy mango salsa presented a variation of the usual avocado or tomato salsa and cheese dips. The tropical fruit mix of mango and pineapple gave the sweet citrus base while the hot pepper ingredients added the zang and zest. It is neither too hot nor too mild, just right for my non-Mexican taste buds that is unaccustomed to exotic flaming spices.

The great part of it is that my 10-year old daughter can take the spiciness. I make it a point to culinary educate her to appreciate the taste from various cultures.
