BOOK Worm: Heart-Wrenching Cry for Life from Past & Present Generations Lost

This eBook presents the emotional cry for the various generations lost through history, as well as today. It reminisces the various genocides— lives, culture and existence— by various oppressors of the Africans, Half-Indians and Jews. But most startling is the continued genocide by individuals and the state who continue to dictate the right to life.

From a technical perspective, this 37-page, 3,458 kB eBook takes a few seconds to download. It has simultaneous device usage that allows sharing across all devices, so I get to read and share the book from my iPhone when mobile, or on my Kindle. The artwork is dark, eerie and sad… of potential and probability lost and killed to non-existence.

I am rating this book a five-star guided by my priority criteria of personal relevance & objective achievement for selecting books that are artistically delivered. The poetic stance of the author on historical reality and the present social and moral issue of abortion grips the heart to the core.

BOOK Worm: Practical Application of Shapes in Everyday Things

This hard copy book presents the experiences and adventures of the main canine character Upton, a pet bichon fries, as he assists authority with his innate detective skills in their quest to find a missing boat and trailer from the marine show. It kept my daughter in suspenseful anticipation of how Upton will contribute to solving the mystery, and kept her glued to the book on what would actually happen next.

From an artistic perspective, this 138-page book is power-packed with attention-getting and holding illustrations of practical and realistic things around children in their everyday life. The artwork on the cover preempts any child of the pending imaginary adventure of a dog, while the pictures within are both engaging and educational as they learn association with shapes the practical way. The story is fast-paced, easy to read for young children, and keeps them entertained and suspended on the outcome. My daughter just had to finish it in one sitting!

The use of pets and animals to deliver knowledge and information to children does not undermine the ideal human mantra of teaching love and communication for animals at a young age. This is the reason why I love using books with animals as characters, that is, to inculcate on my child the respect for every creature on this earth, and how they can provide support to the challenges of the superior being on top of the food chain, man.

I am rating this book a five-star guided by my priority criteria of personal relevance & objective achievement for selecting books for my daughter, which are entertaining, interesting and informative to read. I highly recommend this book for pre-schoolers and children on education-entry level age.

BOOK Worm: Stretch Your Child’s Imagination with a New Friendly Blue Bear Character Barnaby Bellows

kindle-logoAnything that spins my 9-year old daughter’s imagination is something I indulge in.

This book presents “pretend” scenarios for a zookeeper, magician, fireman, etc. It’s lovely to interact with my daughter & go through each pretend character to re-orient her with the different roles that they play in our society. Though the eBook is more appropriate for the pre-school, my daughter & I love to walk back into children’s stories which are more age-appropriate for the younger children due to her interest in storytelling when with her younger relatives& friends. It’s lovely to see her retell the stories to her younger peers in approximately verbatim to the author’s style. The book is captivating to her younger audience with illustrations from Mo Q0vaizi.

From a technical perspective, this 28-page, 4,149 kB eBook takes a few seconds to download. BOOK Worm: Stretch Your Child’s Imagination with Characters That Wish Were with Steve in Minecraft

kindle-logoAnything related to Minecraft fascinates my 9-year old daughter— she loves to play the game on the computer, watch videos of other playing and commentating on their creations, read books and cheat sheets, and endlessly talk of her plans to build her estate.

This book presents 9 fictional characters or avatars that would probably be good companions for Steve, the main and only “real” character that exists when one plays the game. It describes each with an illustration and short description, power level, build rating, fashion rating, popularity and noob. It raises the imagination and creativity of my daughter when playing the game, as she describes how each can play their part in her community designs.

From a technical perspective, this 23-page eBook takes a few seconds to download. It has simultaneous device usage that allows sharing across all devices, so my daughter gets to read the book by the individual standalone pages from my iPhone when we are mobile, or on my Kindle during bedtime. The artwork for the cover page shows 5 of the 10 characters together with the Minecraft blocks as background.

I am rating this book a four-star guided by my priority criteria of personal relevance & objective achievement for selecting the books my daughter reads. Without a description of why these characters exist (less Steve), I was bound to explain it to my daughter that the creators are possibly testing the addition of characters with future versions of the game.

BOOK Worm: An Engaging Anthology of Futuristic & Fantasy Tales from Budding Writers

amz.IMG.15.5.6.WritersOfTheFuture31

eBook: “Writers of the Future, volume 31” presented by L. Ron Hubbard

kindle-logoThis is the first book I’ve read from the book series collection “Writers of the Future” presented by L. Ron Hubbard. The eBook is a collection of 13 short stories set around the topic of a scientific, technology-driven and imaginary future with the whimsical touch of timeless human nature. It features the literary works of the talents from the Writers of the Future international writer’s program and the artworks of the Illustrator’s of the Future international illustrator’s program. The anthology includes 3 short stories from authors L. Ron Hubbard, Kevin J. Anderson, Rebecca Moesta and Larry Niven, as well as essays on writing and illustration by L. Ron Hubbard, Orson Scott and Bob Eggleton.

The short stories can be individually read, without reference to each other or to its previous book series.

From a technical perspective, this 496-page eBook takes less than a minute to download. It has simultaneous device usage that allows sharing across all devices, so I get to read the book by individual story from my iPhone when mobile, or my Kindle during bedtime. The artwork for the cover page entitled “Queen of Angels” consists of a rendition of a futuristic location by Bob Eggleton in 1994, an easy grab from my e-library.

A favorite pick for me is “The God Whisperer” by Daniel J. Davis, a story of a young boy Jack Foster and his god-companion Zu’ar (or should I say “pet”). Initially suspenseful and seemingly aggressive and violent, the twist at the end gave the story a heartwarming ending of war gods assuming the human spirit and concern.

I am rating this book a five-star guided by my priority criteria of personal relevance & objective achievement for selecting the books I read. The topics on life in general (futuristic or fantasy) are universally expressed with the human touch, whether the plot is set in the future or fantasy.

BOOK Worm: “Drinking Animals” by Dan Jackson… Inculcating Love and Respect for the Basic Needs of Wildlife Animals

kindle-logoThis would be an excellent educational book for children to inculcate love and respect for animals at an early age. This is the first book my daughter & I have read together from the photography book collection of Dan Jackson, and we’ve made a pact to read more of his engaging documentaries on the important interrelationship of humankind and nature, and be entertained at the same time.

This 22-pager e-Book is full of photographs of wildlife animals in the act of refreshing themselves with a drink of water. The colors are so vivid and the animals in action realistic.

On the technical aspect of the eBook, the 4,827 kB file downloads easily across all our devices, so it was an easy pick up and share anywhere we are and using whatever device we had on hand.

This book deserves nothing but 5-star, not only for its noble cause for wildlife and nature awareness, but in the interesting and entertaining literary and visual interpretation of imparting information to young readers to garner and maintain their attention.
