HOME Helps: Dependable Buddy to Reach Too High, Too Low & Cramped Areas
This is my essential buddy when cleaning my home. It helps me deal with hard-to-reach areas such as when it’s way up high (in high ceilings and cabinets), down too low (like under the bed), in cramped places (between furniture and appliances), or simply when things are within a double arms’ length but I wouldn’t bother bending, twisting or contorting my body to get hold of it.
It’s basically a 2-1/2 feet aluminum rod with a gripper on one end and the gun-like trigger control on the other end. What sets grabber/reacher tools is the way the gripping mechanism responds to the direct controls. I can apply a strong hold to a feathery grip with an effortless pull of the trigger with my forefinger. There must be an internal spring mechanism that converts the torque at the controls into higher forces in the reaction mechanism, so it requires less energy to produce the desirable grip reaction.
The rubbery grip end offers cushion from grip impact, and the contour allows grip for both straight and curve edged objects. The rubber grip on the control mechanism is likewise less likely to cause callus formation from long use because it is comfortably soft.
And because the rod part is made of aluminum, it is lightweight compared to others made of metal rods, so it’s easier to use when holding it up to reach high areas.
This reacher/grabber had afforded me a lot of convenience from incessant cleaning. It has kept me from moving ladders countless times, an everyday accessibility that has saved me time and effort.
